DiSTI’s GL Studio Adopted by Hyundai Motor Group

Today, the DiSTI Corporation announced its GL Studio® HMI development software has been adopted by both Hyundai Mobis and LG Electronics for the production of 3D Infotainment User Interfaces (UI) for automotive manufacturer KIA. These 3D infotainment User Interfaces are deploying globally across a wide range of KIA models. The two companies, Hyundai Mobis and LG Electronics are working closely with DiSTI to leverage its GL Studio® software and cutting-edge capabilities to take the digital in-car experience into the future.

“In order for drivers to have a more intuitive user experience when using the infotainment system, it was necessary to utilize 3D animation. As a result of reviewing several solutions, we selected the GL Studio solution that is advantageous in terms of hardware resource use, 3D animation performance, and flexibility in developing new GUIs in the future, and we look forward to continued collaboration in the future,” stated an Infotainment Development Manager for the Hyundai Motor Group.

KIA hopes that GL Studio® HMI development software will excel at delivering dynamic and fun driving to the driver, especially during driving maneuvers. Moreover, the 3D user experience will enhance the luxury image of the vehicle and provide user-friendly usability to the drive.

Hyundai Mobis and LG Electronics will use GL Studio® to develop complex 3D interfaces in the Voice User Interface for Infotainment systems. KIA has a long legacy of providing drivers with award-winning infotainment systems. The specialized coding framework provided by GL Studio® HMI development software tools allows Hyundai Mobis and LG Electronics to build highly customized user interfaces for the Infotainment systems. Once implemented, these systems will apply to vehicles they sell across North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and other major regions.

DiSTI Secures Patent for Mixed-Criticality

The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface development software and solutions, is pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a patent (No. 11,003,425) for an invention titled “Mixed-Criticality User Interface Development System.”

The patent differentiates DiSTI’s HMI Software products and solutions and the GL Studio software to facilitate both Safe and Non-Safe User Interface content in the same design file with a unified development workflow process.

This patented workflow is a method for mixed-criticality user interface development that includes storing at least one set of safety-critical requirements along with a corresponding safety-critical designation and designating an object according to the safety-critical designation for deployment along with other objects in a user interface.

“DiSTI has always been on the bleeding edge of the latest User Interface development technology,” said Christopher Giordano, VP UX/UI Technology for DISTI. “We were the first to certify our runtime for functional safety for the automotive market, and now have used that technology to formulate a best-in-class unified workflow to accommodate Safety-Critical and QM content in the same design. This process uses GL Studio’s OneTouch Deployment™ to handle the generation, content transfer, and application launch that takes less than 60 seconds to iterate. This feature allows for a very rapid iteration cycle. It lets UI design teams visualize their content on the hardware target without the need for complex programming and gives a common platform for implementation engineers to work seamlessly with UI designers.

Garmin Adopts DiSTI’s GL Studio for Next Gen IVI-Integrated Cluster

The DiSTI Corporation continues to expand in the automotive market with the announcement that its GL Studio, HMI development tool, was adopted by Tier 1 auto OEM supplier Garmin in some of the company’s next-generation in-vehicle infotainment platforms.

Garmin first approached DiSTI due to the GL Studio team’s experience with ISO 26262 ASIL D HMI development in automotive. The two companies have worked closely to deliver a cutting-edge IVI-Integrated Cluster that offers features and performance exceeding the current market.

“As Garmin continues to expand its automotive OEM electronics business we needed a supplier with industry-leading software capability and an understanding of the unique functional safety requirements of the automotive industry, as well as a willingness to invest with us in a growing product segment. DiSTI’s support has been important in the development of our integrated IVI/instrument cluster solutions and we look forward to continuing our collaboration,” said Craig Puder, Garmin’s Vice President of Automotive OEM Engineering.

For the GL Studio team, the focus has been on maximizing visual quality, performance, and safety. One of the main advantages to the cluster is performance – running 60hz on target at all times. Because visual quality is paramount, the cluster runs at full automotive HD resolution. Responsiveness is another factor that provides superiority for this cluster, there is no delay of animations, with crispness immediately apparent.

Designed to be flexible and customizable, the cluster can display a wide variety of data while matching the User Experience (UX) requirements of the unit. The GL Studio tool makes it easy to provide a wide variety of display options – carousel lists, nested submenus, customizable animations, just to name a few.

The experience of the GL Studio team in automotive safety is illustrated in the cluster’s ASIL tell-tale validator, ensuring that incorrect information is never shown to the user.

DiSTI’s GL Studio Becomes HMI Provider for Xilinx Kria SOM

The teams at Xilinx and DiSTI, looking to capitalize on the rapid evolution of visualized data, can now render captivating 2D and 3D graphics utilizing the Xilinx Kria SOM and GL Studio.

DiSTI has pre-integrated its GL Studio HMI development tool for the new Xilinx Kria SOM platform based on the original work from the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC (multiprocessor system on a chip). With GL Studio’s extensive experience within Healthcare, Industrial, Rail, and Automotive Infotainment and clusters, this technology will provide users with a reliable User Interface (UI) development tool with success in safety-critical and standard embedded applications and the leading embedded processing solution.

Hyundai Mobis Selects DiSTI’s GL Studio® for Hyundai KIA Motor Cars

Hyundai Mobis adopts DiSTI’s User Interface software, GL Studio to develop the redesigned Head-Up Displays for Hyundai KIA motor vehicles.

The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface development software and solutions for the automotive market, announces the use of its GL Studio® software in the production of a redesigned Head-Up Display (HUD) for Hyundai KIA Motor Cars.

These redesigned automobiles will feature a 12-inch HUD that connects with the GPS data providing information like driving routes, driving assistance, and traffic signs. After activating the vehicle’s advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), the HUD can also offer traffic data of cars driving around the vehicle.

Reiser Adopts GL Studio for Level D Qualified Flight Training Simulators

Reiser Simulation & Training GmbH used GL Studio in their H145 and H135 Level D qualified Full Flight Simulators, Flight Training Devices, and Avionic Desktop trainers.

Helicopter flight training is now more realistic, thanks to Reiser Simulation and Training and its use of DiSTI’s GL Studio. Reiser Simulation and Training selected the DiSTI Corporation’s GL Studio HMI software tool to develop the Avionic HMI for their H145 and H135 EASA Level D qualified Full Flight Simulators (FFS), Flight Training Devices, and Avionic Desktop Trainers.

The two companies have worked closely to ensure a smooth integration of GL Studio as part of their simulation framework. These full-flight simulators provide the highest level of fidelity possible to ensure maximum training efficiency.

Reiser achieved its first qualification according to EASA CS-FSTD(H) Level D in January 2018, from the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA) and again from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Norway in August 2018 for their H145 FFS. The newest RST Full Flight Simulator is equipped with an interchangeable H135/H145 cockpit. In addition, the FFS features a Third Crew Member Station, utilizing virtual reality technology to train crew coordination during hook operation simulation. Pilots can bring their own night vision goggles and thus enhance the realism of the mission. The helicopter simulator designed by RST sets new training standards featuring a 240 x 80-degree out-of-the-window view direct projection via high-resolution LED video projectors and an intuitive Instructor Operating Station (IOS).

These qualifications show the level of realism and one-to-one nature of the avionics capabilities built into GL Studio, allowing developers to mirror the real aircraft.
